I’m unabashedly pro-gun rights (aka “Pro-Constitution”) but, to be honest, a lot of the information sources “out there” are mostly click bait for folks from the shallow end of the gene pool.
Still, there are a few good, well-researched and generally trustworthy sites on the Internet, books and YouTube presenters.
I’ve decided to put together a “juried” list of good sources. I have a few that I already rely on, but I would like your input to make the list better.
The reward: for any site or source recommended that passes examination I’ll post a link and give credit to whomever suggested it. (NO personal information will be collected, so none can be revealed.)
To prime the pump, here are a few that I peruse:
http://www.gunfacts.info/ : a debunking of common myths we have all encountered with well-researched and footnoted sources
http://www.nssf.org/ : The National Shooting Sports Foundation … an industry association which has to keep its pages pretty clean in order to project a professional appearance and minimize lawsuits.
A FEW of my YouTube subscription channels:
https://www.youtube.com/user/Iraqveteran8888 The Owner of Moss Pawn and Gun in Georgia discusses and demonstrates a wide array of topics, from sporterizing a Mosin Nagant to stunts with shotgun shells to reviews at the Shot Show in Las Vegas.
https://www.youtube.com/user/hickok45 An old fart in Tennessee who knows his firearms. Light on politics, long on factual (and fun) reviews. Pretty reliable facts … not much fluff. The guy can even toss tomahawks 😉
https://www.youtube.com/user/MrColionNoir While some of Colion’s reviews are light on facts, his take on gun politics is pretty straight up. He’s Black. He’s successful (attorney). He’s young. He’s hip. He likes guns and knows how to champion them. Worth a listen … his earlier videos (pre NRA), while lacking production polish, are definitely funnier … but be sure to catch his recent rant about the San Bernardino massacre … it’s the first time I’ve ever known him to lose his temper “on air”.
https://www.youtube.com/user/nutnfancy Not the most articulate or photogenic of reviewers, his reviews are thorough and, I think, relatively unbiased. His general focus is on use of arms in a survival situation. Some surprising picks and pans, but always with the details behind them laid out on the table.
https://www.youtube.com/user/ThePatriotNurse Ditch medicine and survivalism from a female perspective. Interesting politics … real nurse.
There are others with which I am less in agreement but occasionally will peruse. Larken Rose and his ilk are in that group. SOME of what he says is clearly valid, most of what he says is at least thought provoking, some of what he says is ultimately the babbling of a junior high view of life.
Anarchy, using the classical definitions, is not an invalid viewpoint … but neither is it an over-arching viewpoint with the answers to all of life’s deeper questions withing the folds of its robes. It is a part of a very big puzzle … and nothing more.
